iOS 27.2 / iPadOS 27.2 known issues for MDM admins. Is it safe to deploy?

Released Oct 26, 2026 with 163 security fixes (none actively exploited per SOFA). Apple's enterprise notes list fixes: a 'Save file' Shortcut can no longer bypass Managed Open-In, cellular software updates proceed again, Home Screen Layout profiles no longer push undefined items to the next page, and Guided Access exits work on home-button devices. Supervised devices also lose Software Update and Erase All Contents and Settings in Recovery Mode. As of Oct 28, no widespread 27.2-specific MDM regressions have been reported. For 26 to 27 upgrades, DDM software update policies must already be assigned.

- Legacy MDM software update commands and deferral restrictions are removed in iOS/iPadOS 27. Use the Software Updates and Software Update Settings blueprint components. (source)
- Jamf School: the Devices > Updates page relies on the removed AvailableOSUpdates and ScheduleOSUpdate commands, so it can't update devices that are already on iOS 27. Use Blueprints. (source)
Microsoft Intune
- r/Intune: after supervised iPhones moved 26.x to 27, 'Software Update Enforce Latest' DDM settings showed as failed. One admin said the errors cleared on their own within hours. Another said an app allow list in a legacy Restrictions policy stopped applying and worked again after moving it to the DDM app allow list. (source)
